Rub the interior with a bit of olive oil or butter, then fill it with used damp yerba for 24 hours. Always rinse with warm water (never use soap or dishwashers) and dry it thoroughly with a cloth before storing. To keep the solid wood in perfect condition, avoid soaking the mate and keep it away from direct heat sources.
