These are not imperfections, but the hallmark of a truly unique piece of art—no two mates are ever exactly alike.

Make it part of your ritual

Curing is Essential: Because this mate is crafted from a natural Brazilian gourd, it must be cured before your first use. Curing seals the natural pores of the fruit, prevents cracking, and enhances the flavor of your yerba.

Daily Cleaning: Never leave used yerba sitting in your mate for extended periods. Empty it after your session and rinse gently with warm water. Never use soap, detergents, or abrasive sponges.

Drying: This is the most crucial step. After washing, dry the inside thoroughly with a paper towel to remove excess moisture. Always store your mate face-up in a dry, well-ventilated area to allow the natural gourd to breathe and prevent mold.

Exterior Maintenance: Keep the hand-tooled leather dry to prevent staining or warping. To maintain the majestic, mirror-like shine of the Alpaca silver and the solid bronze crown, occasionally gently buff the metals with a dry jewelry polishing cloth.
