A hand-embossed mate is built to last a lifetime, growing more beautiful and rich in character with every single pour. To keep your "Bailecito" set in perfect condition for the journeys ahead, treat it with these simple care steps:

Cure Before the First Pour: Before your very first mate session, fill the gourd with used, damp yerba and warm water, letting it rest for 24 hours. Afterwards, gently scrape the inner walls with a spoon to remove the loose natural fibers.

Never Use Soap: After you finish your ritual, empty the yerba and rinse the gourd thoroughly with warm water only. Never use dish soap, detergents, or abrasive sponges, as the natural gourd will absorb the chemicals and alter the flavor of your future pours.

Let it Breathe: Always allow your mate to air-dry completely upside down in a well-ventilated, dry spot. Never leave damp yerba inside for days, as natural gourds can develop mold if left wet in enclosed spaces.

Respect the Leather: Treat the premium burgundy leather with care. While a few accidental splashes are part of the ritual, avoid soaking or submerging the leather body in water. If a spill happens, simply pat it dry with a soft cloth immediately.

The Limay Bombilla: Your stainless steel bombilla is incredibly low-maintenance and rust-resistant. Just rinse it under warm water after use, and occasionally run a thin pipe brush through it to keep your connection to home flowing perfectly clean.
